I am a young professional with a stressful job and have always found it difficult to switch off from my work and relax. I would let my 'to do list' worry me constantly. I found it hard to see the wood from the trees. I found it hard to relax after a stressful day at work. I would constantly think of all the things I needed to do in the future and I'd think, "when I've completed this chore, I'll be relaxed", but then another thing would come up and need to be acted on and so I was chasing this elusive state of relaxation and quietness. I also found it difficult to concentrate on 1 job at a time and would get easily distracted.
Mindfulness meditation has been proven in trials to help with stress and relaxation and concentration. Since I started meditation I have a better perspective on the small things on my to do list. I can relax and cope with stress easily. I feel like my general wellbeing is improved, and I can actually cope with much more stress than I could before. Marie is a brilliant teacher. Gentle, unassuming, reassuring, all the qualities you would want in a meditation teacher.
