Chinese Cupping 30 mins£20

Cupping is an ancient Chinese therapy in which a glass cup is applied to the skin and the pressure in the cup is reduced by heat in order to draw and hold skin and superficial muscles inside the cup. Depending on the degree of toxicity in the muscle tissue, treatment will result in either only a slight reddening of the skin for slight toxicity, or a dark red/purple looking bruise for high toxicity. These bruises are not dangerous and disappear in a few days.

Moxibustion 30 mins£20

Moxibustion is a traditional Chinese medicine technique that involves burning of the wool of the Mugwort plant (Artemis Vulgaris), a small spongy herb to facilitate healing. Moxibustion has been used for thousand of years and the purpose of the treatment is to stimulate the flow of Qi (life force energy) and maintain general health. Some clients feel tingling up and down the body, or significant movement of energy within them, and most clients enjoy a feeling of calmness and warmth. The Moxa stick is lit and held about 1 inch from the skin, the distance varying with the tolerance of the client and the degree of stimulation required.

Moxibustion for breech baby is best done around 34-36 weeks into a pregnancy.

Auricular acupuncture 60 mins£30

Auricular (or ear) acupuncture is a specialised therapy in which points on the outer ear are treated with small, sterile and disposable needles in order to treat many chronic health complaints.

Because the auricle contains a high number of nerve endings, it acts as a direct switchboard to the brain, sending electrical signals via the nervous system, to the area of the body affected.

An auricular acupuncture treatment involves placing up to 5 needles in each ear. A programme of treatment will be designed to suit your individual needs.

Ear acupuncture should not be painful. For most people, the thought of receiving acupuncture is normally worse than the actual experience as the needles are extremely fine and are inserted so quickly, that they are barely felt. You will be asked to use a special breathing technique whilst the needles are being inserted. You may initially feel a small stinging sensation but it is just for a second, and you will not feel the needles once they are in place. Needles will be left in place for up to 30 minutes.

Most chronic complaints can be treated effectively and simply with Auricular Acupuncture. Examples include Alcohol/drug withdrawal, Stopping smoking, Stress related conditions and many more.

Note: a course of six Auricular Acupuncture sessions is £150 when paid in advance (i.e. buy five get one free).
